Fiber Optic Monitoring Solutions

Today’s completion practices have pushed fiber optic DTS in to the spotlight. Long reach horizontal wells with multiple frac stages require a new technology for monitoring contribution from the fractured zones. Conventional single point pressure and temperature monitoring cannot adequately monitor long reach horizontal zones. Fiber optic DTS utilizes the cable as the sensor itself allowing the operator to develop a signature of the well from wellhead to toe.
BMP Enterprises offers a Distributed Temperature Sensing (DTS) system for all types of applications. Systems are comprised of DTS surface systems and fiber optic cables specifically designed to function properly in pre-defined well conditions. The fiber optic cable is strapped directly to production tubing using clamps or banded with collar protectors.
The system is capable of precisely measuring temperature at 1 meter intervals (˜3-ft) along the entire length of the cable, to maximum length of 30 kilometers. Temperature accuracy of this system is +/- 0.5° C, with resolution below 0.01° C, depending upon distance and measurement time.
